Latest News From the UK S2000 Owners Club

I’m Tim from Prestige Car Clubs Insurance - www.carclubsinsurance.co.uk - who are part of a very large organisation called The Allen & Allen Group Ltd.

 We have a fantastic car insurance scheme for car clubs and that is due to 4 things –

• There are very few exclusions on the scheme! It starts at age 19, and includes all postcodes (including Northern Ireland), and all modifications (except nitrous).
• The premiums have to be competitive. We have a higher take up rate than the norm and the fact that 25,000 quotes are done in the office each month shows that people are ringing us for a reason!
• We have an excellent phone answering system! An overhead computer screen changes to red when a phone call is on hold, alerting both the manager and the Chief Executive! We have a great emphasis on answering calls.
• We have an excellent Claims Accident Management company.

But the main reason we can offer this scheme to you is because people who are car club members are viewed by us as better drivers which allows us to offer cheaper premiums. This has been borne out statistically which makes S2KUK members a desired ‘niche’ for our insurance company. We want to attract you as a customer!

Every month Honda (UK) encourage their Facebook and Twitter followers to submit a photo of their Honda, they choose the best photos to appear in their gallery from the monthly theme, of which you can see more examples below.

The May theme is “Your Honda from a peculiar angle”.  

Sarah Rhoda has entered her S2000 getting the geometry done at Wheels in Motion.

Lots of our members enjoy driving together and taking photographs, and this is a great way to get some inspiration!  Some of our members have got the bug and their pictures have acheived gallery status (see below)!

JapShow 2012 - Sunday 17th June at Santa Pod Raceway

JapShow Test Day - Saturday 16th June

From the city streets and winding mountain roads of Tokyo to the drag strip of Santa Pod, the cult of the Japanese car has taken over the UK tuning scene, and the JapShow is the beating heart of this culture, with Europe's quickest cars competing in the Jap Drag Series, public Run What Ya Brung open to everyone including bikes, Show & Shine, Drifting, Car Club Displays, Jet Car, traders and much more.

Race Day…  31st March 2012

I woke up at 5am with Andy from Veysport at the door, and my car on the back of the trailer, ready for the journey to South Wales. Several fuel stops to fill the jerry cans were needed due to the fuel shortages! We got to Pembrey nice and early ready for the car to be scrutinised prior to qualifying. Getting Andy’s support was invaluable as he knows all the drills when it comes to racing - I’d have been lost otherwise even with the help of the other guys in the series. My family / girlfriend had also made the journey a couple of hours behind us and was great to have their support. My dad was an ex-bike racer and likes his motorsport!

This is the first in a series of articles by Mark Bennett who has finally scratched an itch and taken up racing in the VTEC Challenge series.

We hope you enjoy reading and following his progress!

After doing around 20 odd trackdays I’d started to get the itch to do some racing. I’ve got a huge passion for the S2000 and given my car was already track prepared, I started to look at what series I could do in the S2000 if I raced it. I also looked at Caterham series, and Mazda MX5, Civics etc, but in the end I chose to stick with the S2000. The main factor for me was that I just love the way it drives on track, and as a fan of the Best Motoring series and seeing what the car can do in race trim, it seemed like an obvious choice.

The series I decided on is called VTEC challenge, a nice series designed for only Honda VTEC cars!  I contacted the organisers to get a feel for the series, and got a good feeling that it was a friendly series (as friendly as racing can get!) It looked like mine would be the only RWD car in the series…!
