MEET REPORT: Donington Historic Festival 2016
The club has been attending this weekend of classic racing at the iconic Donington Park circuit for many years and 2016 was no different. Car clubs get reduced ticket prices and we get a chance to be infield where the action is. A few cars arrived on the Saturday but Sunday had the biggest turn out with eight S2000s on display on the club stand.

We were greeted at the main gate and ushered through the new tunnel into the infield along the bumpy and slightly muddy track and made our way down to where many other car clubs had set up their stands. S2KUK was just a few moments from the bank looking out over Hollywood and down the hill to Craner Curves which made great viewing with easy access back to the car to dodge the showers and to warm up.
One of the attractions of this this event is it’s “access all areas” including the garages and paddock where you can chat to the drivers and mechanics. When it came to the track action it was a case of wrapping up warm in the keen northerly breeze but the close racing of some priceless classics more than made up for this. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old S2KUK friends and make new ones too.
There was also an opportunity to join the track parade at lunch time and S2KSam was happy to show off his immaculate Moonrock to the crowds. It’s a shame he had to do so with an MX5 in front of him!
A few brave souls made it on Monday too but most abandoned the track early afternoon as the rain came in, but all in all it was a great weekend.
