DUNSFOLD WINGS AND WHEELS – 24^th AUGUST 2014

Dunsfold Park is where Top Gear is filmed.  Each year on the August Bank Holiday weekend they have their popular Wings and Wheels event.  Last year S2KUK had a stand in the Wheels Section and it was such a great day we decided to do the same this year.

We had 10 cars on the stand,  which attracted a lot of interest from the crowd.  We spent the day chatting to previous owners, many of who regretted parting company with their S2000.  We also had a lot of people asking for advice on buying one – so maybe some prospective new club members

The weather was kind to us and  S2000 events can be quite posh when it comes to picnics and this proved to be no exception, smoked salmon, rose wine, tarte-au-citroen (citron?) were all on the menu.  Next year we hope to bring the full dining set and candelabras!

We will be producing another S2KUK Calendar this year, so now it is time to start getting your pictures or cameras out, and to submit your photo entries!  Please see below for rules and instructions - ESPECIALLY the first one!

RULES AND REGULATIONS

We all want to see great shots of the S2000, so we have high standards for submissions.

• Photos need to meet a minimum resolution for print purposes. That minimum is "high resolution" - at least 150 dpi, in tif, png, jpg formats. As a guide, photos should generally be 3-4 MB or more
• You CAN obscure license plates if you wish
• Photos need to be cropped "loose" this is to avoid having some great submissions that we can’t use because the image was already cropped too tight to the S2000.
• Try and leave some space around the S2000 so the image can be cropped to fit the calendar. 
• No watermarks allowed.
• NO NUDITY - images must be work and family safe.
• If there is enough demand for hot ladies (or men!) posing we may do a short run of an alternative calendar.
• ONE ENTRY ONLY per person (so choose wisely) You may if you wish supercede your entry as many times as you want

TIPS

• Photos can't just be "driveway" shots, no hose and bucket in the background. You need to be creative, artistic, and unique! At least find a scenic spot to take the pic!
• Lots of people take the ubiquitous 1/4 front or 1/4 rear view, and we can only have so many similar poses in a calendar, so taking the time to do something different and interesting will count toward the submissions
• The calendar is not for profit, and stresses the love we have for our cars. 

How to make a submission

• When you have a photo to submit, rename it with the following format:  "Real_Name.jpg" (YOUR NAME not actually Real_Name.jpg!)
• Email them to: calendar@s2kuk.com
• Photos have to be emailed for entry. This is your tacit consent that they can be used in the calendar, and on the S2KUK website.
• Submissions not following the criteria above will be rejected without notice so please follow the instructions! 

Submission deadline will be October 5th 2014 at 23:59

Submissions will then be put on the S2KUK website for voting.

Remember, submissions need to be EMAILED.  

If they are not emailed, they are not entered.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT COPYRIGHT

By entering this calendar competition you are giving licence to S2KUK (UK S2000 Owners Club) to use your image for publication in the calendar and on the S2KUK website.  

IF YOU DO NOT OWN COPYRIGHT of the image - that is if YOU did not take the photograph it will not qualify for the competition. 

DO NOT ENTER WITH A PHOTO YOU DID NOT TAKE, as it can have serious consequences if it is published. 

By entering a photo to the competition you are agreeing to indemnify UK S2000 Owners Club against any action regarding copyright should you have entered a photo of which you do not own copyright.

Silverstone Classic 2014 lived up to its expectations as one of the highlights of the S2KUK meets calendar.  We were blessed with fantastic weather for the event, and during the course of the weekend over 38  S2000s joined us on the club stand on the infield,expertly arranged by Minvo.

Honda UK  kindly supplied us with a marquee which we could use as a base and this became an excellent meeting place between races to chill out with a PIMM'S or two (we are a civilised club after all !) and chat with other owners and the host of people who came over to admire and ask us about our cars and the club.

We are making final preparations for Megameet 10 (yes the tenth!!) in delightful Mid Wales.

It is, so far, an incredible turn out with 70 cars planned to be in attendance so it promises to be a great meet. As ever we will be doing our bit to raise money for our Members Chosen Charity of the Year which this year is Macmillan Cancer Support

Last year we raised a staggering £5,414.50 which was split in equal amounts and donated to Cancer Research UK and Help for Heroes charities. We can only hope, that with your help, we can do just as well this year.

So....

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

• Have you got something you could donate as a raffle or auction prize?
• Could you scrounge something from a local dealer, or similar?
• Are you a business who'd like to benefit not only the charity, but yourselves by getting free PR/Advertising?
• Maybe you travel a lot for work and stay in hotels - could you persuade them for an overnight B&B voucher perhaps?
• Does your work place do anything special? Would they donate something?

Anything, no matter how big or small, will help us towards the fund raising.

Also we need some volunteers to help contact our list of traders/sponsors etc. please get in touch - many hands make light work!

Following announcements at the AGM we have 2 positions on the Club Committee, we have some interest but as not all members were at the AGM we have to open it up to everyone and follow the process of election as set out in the Club Constitution. 

We will take nominations (some were given at the AGM), if you would like to put yourself forward:

You will need to propose yourself and have someone to second you, both you and your seconder must be paid up Club members.  Once nominations are in there will be a members' vote on the candidates to decide who takes the positions.

Treasurer

After 10 years service to the club and being a founding member, Ade has decided it is time to hand over the baton to someone with more day to day involvement in the club.  We would like to thank Ade for his hard work keeping the accounts in shape.

Key responsibility is financial control, keeping accounts up to date and filing in line with legal requirements. 

Honda/Dealer/Discounts Co-ordinator

This will involve engaging with Honda (UK) on various subjects, recruitment of dealers and suppliers to the discount scheme, and keeping the discounts up to date.  

Interested?

If you'd like to put yourself forward for either of these roles, you will need to propose yourself, and you will also need someone to second you.  Once all proposals are in, appointment would be by a club members' vote.  You can do this by emailing via the Contact Form using the Contact Committee option from the drop down menu.

Both roles are voluntary and will take up a little of your own time, however it will not be onerous.

Notice is hereby given that The UK S2000 Owners Club AGM 2014 will be held at 10.00 am on Saturday 26th July 2014 at Silverstone Classic.

The AGM is a formality to conform with the Club constitution attended by Committee and there is not usually much (if any) interest from members to attend.  However if you would like to attend (you must be a currently paid up member), please inform Sue, the club Secretary including your membership number through the contact details here by 24th July. 

We will meet in the S2000 Hospitality tent and if required, move to the nearest cafe.
