Thanks to all the friends of Ian Sunley

Here is a lovely picture and message received from Nicola Sunley following the tragic death of her husband Ian Sunley in December.

Following Ian’s death in December, I wanted to personally thank all those who donated to the charities that I chose in remembrance.  I was very touched that the club did this in his honour.  The club and members were a big part of our lives for the last couple of years.  Ian was fanatical about driving and wasted no time in planning all the events he wanted to go to. So for the last couple of years, we attended many events up and down the country and thoroughly enjoyed the events and the company we found ourselves in.   Many of you know that Ian was diagnosed with heart disease in the early summer of last year, he was awaiting a triple, possibly quadruple bypass. This was hard news to take considering he had been an active and well man for many years.  This meant that he had to slow down, take medication and wait for an operation.  During this time he took things a little easier and attended all the events and weekends away that he could. He even went down to the Druids run without me – I was not up for the early start, but Ian returned smiling from ear to ear, complete with a burnt face from the sun that day (or was it from the wind, I cannot remember).

When Ian’s dad had a heart attack 10 years ago, and underwent a triple bypass in his 60th year, Ian made a decision that we were not going to wait until we retire before we start and see the world and this is one thing that makes it a little easier to bear.  We had a wonderful life together, were blessed with three wonderful children and for the last 10 years have made an effort to enjoy life and see some of the amazing countries and sites there are to see.   I have many memories of Ian and the years we shared together.  I’m sure many of you have your own memories of him, I expect most of these include Belgium beer! Ian was a kind man who would do anything for anyone and would think nothing of going out of his way to help out.  He loved to burn the candle at both ends and enjoyed the driving and social aspects of the club.

I would like to thank all those who donated for Cancer Research, Help for Heroes and the British Heart Foundation. The club raised £637.50. I am amazed and touched by your generosity along with all the kind messages received.  I hope to meet some of you again soon. Enjoy your S2000, I know Ian did.
