S2KUK MegaMeet 26A - Northern Ireland

The weekend of 17-19 April saw 78 Honda S2000’s descend on the the Roe Valley Resort at Limavady in Northern Ireland.  The reason for this invasion, a bi annual Mega Meet.  A get together of members of the UK S2000 Owners Club, S2KUK.  This was Mega Meet 26A (MM26A).

It was the second time that the club had visited this part of the world for a MegaMeet and the promise of a warm welcome, fantastic roads and scenery, unrivalled atmosphere and a great craic made for a must attend event.  Circa 138 drivers and passengers from all corners of the UK attended, not forgetting the healthy contingent from Belgium and The Netherlands.  It is more than fair to say that none of us were disappointed with the weekend.

The Mega Meet itself follows a tried and tested formula.  A nice hotel with suitable parking, a Friday arrival with a meet & greet, and an evening dinner.  Saturday entails a “healthy” breakfast and a full driving day, with planned coffee and lunch stops.  Then, post driving, a gala dinner including charity raffle and auction.  The Sunday is generally set aside for personal endeavours and activities, including recovery from the night before!

For Megameet 26A we will be travelling across the water to the beautiful Northern Ireland.

This will be our second visit to this part of the world and without doubt it will offer a warm welcome, some fantastic roads and scenery, unrivalled atmosphere and a great craic with like-minded people.

We are currently in discussions with Stena and Irish Ferries to negotiate for a discount code but we are not in receipt of this information at present. You may find Tesco vouchers offer some reduced rates. We will advise once we have this detail.

What is our MegaMeet Weekend all about??

Delighted to announce that to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Honda S2000 AND the 20th anniversary of the UK S2000 Owners Club, we will have a parade lap taking place on the Friday 23rd August of this event, also paying tribute to the life of Ayrton Senna and to acknowledge his association with Honda.

Thanks to Dave for arranging a great drive out to Tintern Abbey. Although only 4 of us made it to the Easter Compton start point, it was still a memorable drive!

Stuart did his regular ‘detour’ by missing the Chepstow junction but eventually caught us up again. I had a lucky escape after finding I’d been sat on a wasp for 15 mins, still he seemed happy to be warmed up rather than gassed out!😂

Special mention to the American lady tourist at the Abbey who saw the cars lined up and declared ‘Oh gosh, they’re just all so cute! Are they lined up in order of size, smallest st the end?’🤦‍♂️😂 Well done to her chap for explaining they’re all the same!

The roads through the Wye Valley are stunning, hopefully next time we do this run the weather will be better and maybe he head all the way up to Symonds Yat?😎

We normally get six or seven cars on our runs. Imagine my surprise when nine cars turned up for an 8:00 start on Sunday.

We set off through the New Forest on the first part of our run in dry weather. We added to our numbers with another car joining us in Burley.
A quick stop incase anyone wanted to raise their hoods as we were now in some heavy drizzle.

It must have been an impressive sight to be at the back of the convoy as we drove through Sandbanks towards the ferry.

With 2 more cars joining; by the time we got to the ferry we had 12 S2000s in all. "Yeah we got a great big convoy ain't she a beautiful sight!"

By some sheer fluke we were all lined up together waiting for the ferry, with no rogue cars between us. I maintain that 12 Honda S2000s on a chain link ferry is a world record. Beating our previous record, which was seven.

Once we arrived at Studland we had great B roads and little tourist traffic to contend with. Driving down into Swanage Bay and onto Corfe Castle then on our way to Lulworth Cove for breakfast. Another S2K meets us in the car park having driven from the Weymouth area. It was great to see quite a few new faces as well as older friends.

My thanks go to Harry, official photographer. Stephen and Graham (not present) for route suggestions. Also to Sedge who drove shotgun at the rear of the convoy making sure no-one got lost. He did have the best view of all the cars in front of him. Thanks for all of you who turned up to make this event our greatest success to date.
